About this guide and how we choose

Sink Drains is an independent buying guide and how-to hub for sink drains, stoppers, strainers and P-traps, run by WellTracked.

What this site is

Sink drains look simple until you need one. The hole size, the overflow and the pipe below all have to match, and most listings do not explain which is which. We built this site to be the reference we wanted: diagrams of how the parts fit, the sizes that matter, and plain instructions for the jobs people actually do.

How we choose

We have not tested these products ourselves. Nothing on this site claims hands-on testing, lab results or scores of our own. Instead:

  1. Fit rules come from makers and plumbing references. Sizes, overflow pairing and installation order come from maker guides such as VIGO, Ruvati and Signature Hardware, and from references such as HomeGuide and Hunker.
  2. Code numbers come from the code body. The trap seal depth on this site comes from the International Code Council (ICC). Local codes vary, and we say so.
  3. Maker claims are labeled as claims. When a maker says a finish resists corrosion or a catcher fits a range of drains, we say the maker says so.
  4. We recommend types, then show current listings. Shop buttons are searches for the right type of part, not a single product we vouch for. Compare the listing’s specs with your measurements before you buy.
  5. No scores, no star ratings, no prices. Prices change daily and we have no test data to score with.
  6. Uncertain means we say so. Where evidence is thin, such as whether baking soda and vinegar clears a clog, we tell you what is known and what is not.

How the site earns

Some links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. If you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what we recommend. Details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

Safety

Plumbing work can flood a cabinet, and drain chemicals can burn. Our guides flag the risky steps. If you are unsure, or if pipes inside the wall are leaking or corroded, call a licensed plumber.

Corrections

Parts lines and listings change. We review pages regularly and each page shows when it was last reviewed.

Who we are

Sink Drains is operated by WellTracked, a small publisher of independent guides. We are not affiliated with any drain brand, plumbing manufacturer or retailer.
